If you build it, will they come?
Chef-d'oeuvre Designs is the natural spawning of our desire to do what we want to do. Chef-d'oeuvre means a masterpiece, or the outstanding work of a creative artist or craftsman. We do web and graphic design services for individuals, fanciers, organizations and small companies.
We can work together to create your dreams and let others visit them online or in print. Many combinations are possible to unlock your online rewards from a turn-key website production to honest mentoring.
It's all a big game of construction, some with a brush, some with a shovel, some choose a pen. ~ Jackson Pollock.
Validate the code, why?
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) both develops and promotes standard technologies for the Web. Just why is validation important? A valid XHTML web page loads faster because the browser does not have to try interpreting what you mean from what you said. That makes sense.
Valid code stands above the fog and is easier to read by search engines. Although content is truly king, valid code, meta tags, search engine submissions, link exchange banners, target audience magazine ads and news releases all combine to help you sell and/or promote your website and "stuff" to a much broader national and international audience. Would you like more traffic? Think about it.
Choice of cost or value?
Chef-d'oeuvre Designs creates on a fixed fee basis. We will ascertain the scope of the project with a consultation. The fee, geared to meet your budget having specific design features and functions, will be agreed upon by both designer and client. Project fees will vary depending upon the requirements and complexity of the project, but typically range between $500 and $2,500.
We will also assist you in the selection of a domain name, hosting choice and your account set-up. You will have the total control and we will be sure to turn the keys over to you upon acceptance of your site. You can "take it from there" and learn a new set of skills to extend your site, we can maintain it for you or some combination that suits your needs.
When it comes to designing a website for your "stuff", there are many variations from the simple basic site to very complex highly involved sites. Surely you will find it cheaper to go elsewhere — please do. However, check the designer's own website to see if it is valid XHTML or HTML coding. If not, then why would you wish to pay someone for a website that is not valid code or CSS style? It's a choice of cost or value!
Musings
I have fun first and foremost. Some of my clients crack me up. They know they want a website, but beyond a color scheme and a name, they simply leave it up to me to just go "presto", here's your site! Then we iterate from there making small changes and whatnot until they are happy. What is fun to do is go live with a draft design and boy, they get on the stick with completion. I mean, why mess around. Want a website, then "let's do it!" It is faster that way and quite fun. Beats pulling the info out of them and they like my commitment.
I did a project for this lady that was fun and her animals beautiful. It was another breeder website project, XHTML 1.1 and CSS for a complete redesign. The client was very happy and easy to work with once she got the idea. I completely redesigned her website, while retaining her graphics and content. Client comments included, "My request to maintain the basic structure and feel for my website was honored by you and I'm so pleased with the results." They are contemplating the maintenance themselves, but I suspect I will get a call!
Another project I did was for a cleaning company. This was a complete site design, written in XHTML 1.1 with a CSS that was simple, clean and fun to do. Client comments included, "I know this has been a lot of back and forth and explaining things to me. However, the final product is awesome ... You have to be proud of yourself. Thank you, I couldn't have found a better person to do this. You're the best!"
Of course, I enjoy my animals and maintaining our website, Autumn-Argus Farm, and continually look to keep it fresh. Our traffic has greatly increased and the stats are setting new records. That keeps the owner happy. She's my wife!
