Rescue Associations - Chinese Crested and Powder Puff dogs do have several rescue associations both national and regional. Many breeders will unite together to rescue these wonderful dogs or post them as rescues on their own websites. Reputable breeders are your best source here as opposed to so-called "Rescue Organizations." WARNING: Be very careful here. We have recently found several local rescue groups that appear to be bona fide (present a nice website and appear to be credentialed) that are really only interested in obtaining dogs for resale to the highest bidder. Furthermore, they post these animals in such a psychological manner as to provoke one to "save" the poor critter by using less than best photos and request donations. They also offer shopping and their "other services" such as sewing, website design and other creative artwork. Be certain to be very diligent before you fork over your money to these groups. The only way they will stop proliferating is if they are NOT supported. Jack Onofrio Dog Shows was co-founded in 1968 by Jack and Dorothy Onofrio, which grew from fourteen shows per year to its current status as the premier dog show organization in the nation. Jack Onofrio was born May 11, 1925 and enlisted in the Army Air Force in November 1942, and saw action in the European Theater as a machine gunner on B-24s, re-enlisted in the Air Force, serving for twenty years and retired in 1965. He then embarked on his next vocation as an American Kennel Club licensed all-breed professional dog handler. Alas, he recently passed away August 31, 2004. Chinese Crested Database — You can print one of the pre-defined styles, including a dog plus six generation letter sized pedigree, or copy a style and modify it to suit your needs. The output can be to your printer, a gif file, a jpg file (best when the pedigree includes a picture) or a emf (Extended Meta File) format to include in Word documents. The program will also output html files and text files for posting pedigrees on your web site.
